Water, it is most important and essential part of everyday life for living.

Tap water is nationwide in Japan and we have access to clean water at the turn of a faucet, so basically there is no difficultly in life.I go on many business trips abroad as a member of  International Group, and every time I notice that the taste of water from overseas are different from Japan, although there are regional differences.

It seems that what is called the difference between soft water and hard water.Most tap water and mineral water in Japan are soft water. On the other hand, overseas water, especially European water is hard water which has many minerals such as magnesium (Mg) and calcium (Ca).I think that most of Japanese prefer soft water because we are used to drinking  as we have been drinking soft water since childhood.

Furthermore, when you take a shower overseas, we realize that shampoo and soap do not bubble well. The cause that these doesn’t bubble well is affected by hard water which is contained a lot of minerals.The reason why it doesn’t bother us in Japan is soft water with low – minerals.

In fact, the water is an important factor in the production of silica gel. When producing silica gel, it is needed “water” washing process.

When the water contains a large amount metals such as sodium (Na), magnesium (Mg), and calcium (Ca) , they will remain as impurities in the silica gel.

Depending on the difference in the water, silica gel that manufactures  over the world is different from the purity. As example, we need high purity silica gel for applications that dislike metal, and we can produce such silica thanks to water in Japan.
